How to create Etsy Templates & Recipes

To bulk edit multiple listings with similar attributes, you can create and apply Templates and Recipes. This will automatically populate a predefined format of listing attributes.

The steps to create a template are available HERE. This section explains each type of template used on Etsy.

Shipping & Return Template

Select the Shipping Profile, Processing Profile, and Return Policy from your Etsy store.

Shipping Profile, Processing Profile, and Return Policy must be set up directly in your Etsy Shop Manager. LitCommerce will then display them for selection.

Click Refresh to reload the latest Shipping Profiles, Processing Profile, and Return Policies.

Choose the weight and dimension unit, then enter their values or select a Product Attribute from All Products to map to the value.

If the weight unit is selected, the weight will be automatically converted when published on Etsy. Read more HERE.

Category Template

For the Shopify Main Store, you can use the Auto assigned to Product Types feature to automatically apply the template to new listings that match the corresponding Main Store Product Types.

Choose the Production Partners in the About This Item section.

Select a Primary Category from Etsy or enter relevant keywords to browse options.

If you have the Etsy category ID, enter the Category #: box to automatically populate the category.

Once the Primary Category is selected, complete the additional information that populates below.

Add tags for your listing (imported from All Products if available). LitCommerce will automatically adjust tags to meet Etsy’s standards:
Remove the last letters if a tag has more than 30 characters.
Keep only the first 13 tags (if more are provided).
Remove special symbols.

Click on Use Tags from the Main Store to automatically apply the tags from your Main Store if available.

Select the Shop Section created from your Etsy store. Click the Refresh button to update the latest Shop Sections from Etsy to LitCommerce.

Pricing Template

Modify the listing price by selecting one of the following options:

Price Adjustment: Follow the basic Price Rules Options. Click on Add Adjustment to add multiple calculations to the price.

Use the Price Preview tool to review how the configured price rules take effect.

Price override: Manually select a Main Store Attribute from All Products or enter a numeric value to display.

Title & Description Template

The template consists of two main sections: Title and Description, each containing its respective placeholders: {{name}} and {{description}}.

They retrieve the exact title and description data from your Main Store to populate the corresponding fields in your Etsy listings.

You can also use other attributes, such as Main Store fields and metafields, to add more information to your product title and description. Find them in the Select Attributes list.

If a Main Store attribute shares the same name as a supported default placeholder, the system will prioritize the attribute. To use the original placeholder, write the following format: {{product.field_name}}.

Applying the Title & Description Template to imported Etsy listings may overwrite both the title and description with Main Store data. To retain the existing Etsy title or description when using the template, input {{channel.name}} or {{channel.description}}.

Etsy does not support HTML in Product Description. They will be stripped when pushing to Etsy.

Personalization Template

You can enter the instructions to the buyer regarding the listing customization in the Personalization Template.

Instructions for buyers: Enter guidance for buyers on customization requirements.
Character limit for buyer response: Set a maximum character limit for the personalization text.
Is Required: Specify whether buyers must provide customization details.

Recipes

Etsy Recipes follow the same instructions as the Recipe.

By following these steps, you can create and manage the Templates and Recipes on Etsy to help ensure your listings are completed and properly structured.
