How to list products on eBay

This article provides a step-by-step guide to help you list products from your Main Store to eBay using LitCommerce.

The process transfers only products found in LitCommerce All Products section. Make sure to check that all your Main Store items are included, and import any missing ones if needed.

Further details can be found below.

Step 1: Add Draft listings to the eBay channel from All Products

To list on eBay, you will need to add a Draft listing to the eBay channel in LitCommerce.

1

Go to the All Products section from the sidebar menu.

2

Select the products you want to list, click Select Action, and choose Add to Channel Drafts.

3

Choose the eBay channel and click Add As Draft Now.

Step 2: Edit Draft listings in the LitCommerce eBay channel

After completing the first stage, your listings will appear under the Draft tab in the LitCommerce eBay channel. Listings with missing information will be marked with the Missing Info status.

You can start filling in the required information by clicking on the title to open the listing details page.

The listing details page in the eBay channel consists of the following tabs:

  • Product Identifiers/Variations Identifiers.

  • Title & Description.

  • Images.

  • Pricing/Variations.

  • Category.

  • Business Policies.

While the Product Identifier/Variations Identifier, Title & Description, Images, and Pricing/Variations tabs are imported directly from All Products, you must manually complete the remaining tabs to meet eBay’s listing policies.

Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).

Let’s go through each tab below.

Product Identifiers

This tab includes multiple product identifier fields used to distinguish listings and help eBay create new ones.

  • eBay Product ID (ePID).

  • SKU.

  • Brand

  • UPC/Other product identifiers.

The eBay Product ID (ePID) Lookup is available to help you locate matching listings on eBay.

If your listing is a variant, this tab will appear as Variations Identifiers, displaying the parent product and its associated variations.

Title & Description

This tab consists of two required fields: Title and Description, each displaying the corresponding data from your Main Store. You can edit both fields to customize the content specifically for eBay.

To give you more control over the product description, LitCommerce offers two toggleable editing modes:

  • Rich Text Editor: Ideal for simple descriptions using basic formatting.

  • HTML Editor: Ideal for complex layouts using custom HTML and CSS.

Images

This tab displays images and videos retrieved from the corresponding Main Store product. All images must meet eBay’s image standards.

LitCommerce only supports videos for eBay UK and eBay Motors US.

Images and videos cannot be added directly to the Images tab in LitCommerce. To update them, make the necessary changes in your Main Store and use the Load Images From Main Store button to reflect them in your eBay listings.

Pricing/Variations

Pricing

This tab is only visible on simple listings. It contains two fields: Price and Quantity, displaying the corresponding data from your Main Store and available for editing on item level.

Variations

This tab replaces the Pricing tab for variant listings. It displays each variation's SKU, attributes, price, and quantity.

You can delete unwanted variations from the listing by clicking the Bin icon. However, not all variations can be removed from the parent product in the LitCommerce eBay channel.

Category

The Category tab is essential during the listing process, as it helps provide buyers with key information about your items. Follow the steps below to proceed.

1

Search or browse, and select a Primary Category from the available options. This will show all relevant fields of that category.

By default, LitCommerce uses the listing title to suggest a matching category. If the suggested category is not suitable, enter any keywords to find another one.

Alternatively, you can browse from the list of Categories. Ensure you select an end-leaf category.

The Secondary Category and eBay Store Categories are optional. Note that adding a second category to any listing will incur an Insertion Fee, even for free listings. Learn more about eBay fees HERE.

2

Once the Primary Category is selected, complete Item Specifics that populate below.

Item Specifics vary depending on the selected category.

Business Policies

To use this tab, your eBay store must be authorized by eBay. Once approved, you can create the Business Policies directly on eBay and return to LitCommerce to select them from the dropdown list.

Step 3: Publish Draft listings on eBay

Once you have completed all the required information on the listing details page, you can save and publish the listing on eBay. Look at the bottom right corner and click on one of the buttons below:

  • Save & Publish: Save and publish all your changes immediately on eBay.

  • Save & Close: Save the changes as a draft on LitCommerce and exit the listing details page.

  • Save Changes: Save the changes and stay on the page to continue editing.

After publishing successfully, the listings will be transferred from Draft to the Active tab.

If the provided information does not meet eBay's requirements or policies, the listings will be moved to the Error tab.

To resolve, open the listing details page, review the error messages, and make the necessary corrections before republishing.
