Walmart 5.0 Updates: What You Need to Know

We’re excited to announce that LitCommerce is now fully integrated with the latest Walmart 5.0! This update introduces changes designed to enhance listing quality and attract more buyers.
In this article, we will explain everything you need to know about this upgrade.

1. What’s New in Walmart 5.0?

Walmart 5.0 is a major update focused on providing a more refined and effective selling experience. Key features of this update include:
New Category Taxonomy: This update introduces more granular and detailed categories, allowing you to categorize your products more accurately. This improves visibility and ensures potential customers can easily find your items.
Enhanced Listing Properties: Additional attributes have been added to help differentiate your products better. This means you can provide more detailed information about your items, helping buyers make informed decisions.
Selling Products in Various Conditions: For certain categories and subcategories, you can now sell items in conditions such as used or restored. To do this, you will need to obtain permission from Walmart.

2. How to Upgrade Your Listings to Walmart 5.0

a. New Listings

Publishing new listings is straightforward. Any new products published to Walmart from LitCommerce will automatically utilize the 5.0 category structure and properties, requiring no extra effort on your part.

For new products, categories are now available in Version 5. You can choose them from the Category tab.

Alternatively, you can use Template & Recipes for bulk updates.

b. Existing Listings

Your existing products will continue to sync with their current Walmart IDs. However, updates can only be made using the old categories until October 31, 2024. After this date, you will need to transition your listings to the new Walmart 5.0 category taxonomy. Follow these steps:

For Listings Without a Category Template:

Step 1: Go to the Category tab in the listing details.

Step 2: Find the corresponding Version 5 category by searching for the Version 4.x name.

Step 3: After selecting the desired category, you need to add category attributes before updating the products to Walmart. Depending on the category, Walmart requires certain attributes to enhance the shopping experience.

When upgrading from Version 4.x categories, shared attribute values will be retained. For example, if your Version 4.x category includes a Color attribute, and the new Version 5 category also has a Color field, the value will be kept.

These steps also applies to Category Templates. Products assigned to a template will be automatically updated and sent with the new category information.

For Listings with a Category Template:

Step 1: Go to the Category Template section.

Step 2: Follow the steps outlined above to select the new Version 5 category.

This will automatically update all listings that use that template to the new category.
