How to list Products on Amazon

Amazon is a highly regulated marketplace with strict requirements for product listings. Sellers must provide detailed and accurate information to meet Amazon's guidelines and ensure their products are eligible for listing.

Once the Main Store and the first Sales Channel are successfully set up, all products from your Main Store will be imported to the All Products tab.

This article provides a step-by-step guide to help you list your Products from LitCommerce to Amazon.

Step 1: Add Draft Listings to the Amazon channel from All Products

To list on Amazon, you will need to add a draft Listing to the Amazon channel in LitCommerce.

  1. Go to the All Products tab from the sidebar menu.

  1. Select the products that you want to list on Amazon and click Select Action, then List Products to Channels.

  1. Choose the Amazon channel and click Add As Draft Now.

Step 2: Edit draft Listings in the Amazon channel in LitCommerce

After Step 1, navigate to the Amazon channel in LitCommerce via the sidebar menu to find your Draft listings.

There are two cases in which you can publish listings on Amazon via LitCommerce:

  1. Case 1: List products using an existing ASIN from Amazon Catalog.
  2. Case 2: Create new ASINs with GTIN Exemption.

Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) is a unique ten-digit alphanumeric code that Amazon assigns to a product in its catalog. You can refer to this article for more information.

Review the case details below and select the most suitable case for you. For visual aids, refer to Case 1 and Case 2 videos.

CASE 1: List products using an existing Product ASIN from Amazon Catalog

  1. Go to the listing details page of the Draft listing.

  1. Enter the Product Identifier (GTIN, UPC, EAN,...), keyword, SKU, etc. to find ASINs using the LitCommerce ASIN Lookup tool on the Product Identifiers/Variations Identifiers tab.

After assigning the ASIN, visit other tabs (including Listing Details, Shipping and Offer) to fill out the required fields. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).

The SEO tab is not required, but is recommended. It helps optimize your listings' search visibility specifically for Amazon’s search algorithm.

If you cannot locate an existing ASIN in the Amazon catalog, it means the product is not currently sold on Amazon. In this case, you will need to create a new listing. Refer to CASE 2 below.

CASE 2: Create new ASINs with GTIN Exemption

If your products are not yet listed in the Amazon catalog, and you are unable to locate existing ASINs, please follow the steps below:

  1. Apply for a GTIN Exemption from Amazon by visiting this article.

  1. Once approved, send a copy of the confirmation to LitCommerce and provide the approved Brand Name and Categories.

We will configure this information to your Amazon channel and it should have a badge displayed next to the Channel name.

  1. Head to the Listing Details tab on the listing details page and complete the sections below. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).

Brand Name

Enter the exact brand name approved by Amazon or use "Generic" if no brand is specified.

Category (including Browse Node ID and Browse Node Name)

Add the Browse Node ID and Name. Refer to this guide for instructions on finding node IDs.

Safety And Compliance (including Country Of Origin, Are Batteries Required, Dangerous Goods Regulations)

Select the options that best suit your listings.

Product Type

Select the Product Type in the list according to the Browse Node you have just selected.

Variant Theme

For variant listings, it is required to map the Variant Theme with attributes from the corresponding Main Store products. This allows Amazon to establish parent-child product relationships in their system.

You will need to map the exact Main Store attributes to the selected options from the Amazon Variant Theme. After choosing the options, use the Select Attribute field to match the corresponding Main Store variant attributes to each one.

Only options from the available Variant Theme list can be selected. They will vary depending on the Product Type.

For example, the Main Store product has two variant attributes: Primary color and Fabric

The Variant Theme of choice can be Color and Material, which are then mapped to the placeholders {{c.primary_color}} and {{c.fabric}}. See below for reference on the possible mapping.

Variant Theme may not contain the exact attribute names as your Main Store. Select the options that best match your product variations.

Required Product Type Specifics

Several required fields will be displayed automatically at the bottom of the listing details page once the Product Type is selected. Ensure you provide values for these fields as well.

For example: if the Product Type is Clothing Set. Then the required field will be Fabric Type.

Additional Product Type Specifics

This section contains supplementary information specific to the selected Product Type. Click Select Additional Fields to choose the fields that you want to include.

Product Dimensions (Optional)

Enter the item and package dimensions.

  1. Visit the Offer tab and fill out the required fields such as Condition or Quantity.

  1. (Optional) Complete the SEO tab to provide additional information about your listing.

Step 3: Publish draft Listings on Amazon

Once you have completed all the required information on the Listing Page, you can save and publish the Listing on Amazon. Look at the bottom right corner and click on one of the buttons below:

  • Save & Publish: Save and publish all your changes immediately on Amazon.
  • Save & Close: Save the changes as a draft on LitCommerce and exit the listing details page.
  • Save Changes: Save the changes and stay on the page to continue editing.

To publish multiple listings at once, simply navigate to the Draft tab on the Amazon channel, choose the listings then select the action Publish to Amazon.

After publishing your products to Amazon, if all information is approved by the Amazon system, your products will be moved to the Active tab.

Otherwise, Amazon will return an error indicating any incorrect or missing fields. Please fill in the required information and try publishing the listings again.

Listing products on Amazon can be complex due to its stringent requirements. It might take some time to list your first product successfully. Once you can list the first product successfully, apply the same steps to your other listings.
