How to create Etsy Templates & Template Rules

To bulk edit multiple listings with similar attributes, you can create and apply Templates and Template Rules. This will automatically populate a predefined format of listing attributes.

This article walks you through creating Etsy Templates and Template Rules.

Templates

The steps to create a template are available HERE. This section explains each type of template used on Etsy.

Shipping & Return Template

Shipping Profile, Processing Profile, and Return Policy

Select the Shipping Profile, Processing Profile, and Return Policy from your Etsy store.

Shipping Profile, Processing Profile, and Return Policy must be set up directly in your Etsy Shop Manager. LitCommerce will then display them for selection.

Click Refresh to reload the latest Shipping Profiles, Processing Profile, and Return Policies.

Weight And Dimension

Choose the weight and dimension unit, then enter their values or select a Product Attribute from All Products to map.

If the weight unit is selected, the weight will be automatically converted when published on Etsy. Read more HERE.

Category Template

For the Shopify Main Store, you can use the Auto assigned to Product Types feature to automatically apply the template to new listings that match the corresponding Main Store Product Types.

About This Item

Select the following information for your listings.

• Who made it?

• What is it?

• When was it made?

• Production Partners

Primary Category

Enter relevant keywords to search for a Primary Category or browse from Etsy's available options.

If you have the Etsy category ID, enter the value in the Category ID: box to automatically populate the category.

Additional Details

Once the Primary Category is selected, complete the additional information that populates below.

• Shop Section: Select a suitable Shop Section. They are created directly in your Etsy store admin.

Click the Refresh button to update the latest Shop Sections from Etsy to LitCommerce.

• Tags: Add tags for your listings (imported from All Products if available).

LitCommerce will automatically adjust tags to meet Etsy’s standards:

• Remove the last letters if a tag has more than 30 characters.

• Keep only the first 13 tags (if more are provided).

• Remove special symbols.

Click on Use Tags from the Main Store to automatically apply the tags from your Main Store if available.

• Product Attributes: Enter values or select from Etsy's available options. Required fields are marked by the red asterisk (*).

These attributes may vary depending on the selected Primary Category.

Pricing Template

Modify the listing price by selecting one of the following options:

• Price Adjustment: Follow the basic Price Rules Options. Click on Add Adjustment to add multiple calculations to the price.

Use the Price Preview tool to review how the configured price rules take effect.

• Price override: Manually select a Main Store Attribute from All Products or enter a numeric value to display.

Title & Description Template

The template follows the LitCommerce Title & Description Template general structure. Check out this article for more details.

Etsy does not support HTML in Product Description. They will be stripped when pushing to Etsy.

Personalization Template

You can enter the instructions to the buyer regarding the listing customization in the Personalization Template.

• Instructions for buyers: Enter guidance for buyers on customization requirements.

• Character limit for buyer response: Set a maximum character limit for the personalization text.

• Is Required: Specify whether buyers must provide customization details.

Template Rules

Etsy Template Rules follow the same instructions as the Template Rules.
