Amazon Common Errors
When working with Amazon listings in LitCommerce, you may come across errors returned by Amazon during the listing or update process, including:
Error resulting from incomplete required fields
Error caused by conflicts with existing Amazon data
Error due to Amazon API limitation
This article provides general guidance on how to resolve them.
Error resulting from incomplete required fields
Please provide at least one of the two fields: ASIN or GTIN
This error occurs if the required information, either an ASIN or GTIN, is not provided during the listing process. When listing on Amazon through LitCommerce, you will fall into one of two cases:
- Create an offer using an existing ASIN from the Amazon catalog.
- Create brand-new ASINs on Amazon with GTIN Exemption.
Depending on your selected case, enter an ASIN to the listing or provide us with proof of approved GTIN Exemption to proceed. More details on the process can be found HERE.
Missing variant theme
You may encounter this error when trying to publish a variant listing without mapping the Variant Theme. Variant Theme is required for listings with variations, as it helps Amazon define how variations are grouped and displayed on the marketplace.
Refer to this section for a clearer understanding of the field and how to map it.
[Field] is required but not supplied
There are two scenarios in which this error may appear:
- List products on Amazon
You may still encounter this error even after completing all the standard required fields. This happens because Amazon may require additional fields for specific products.
To resolve, follow the error message and locate the missing fields under each tab to fill in their values.
Select Additional Fields
button under the Listing Details tab. After ensuring all necessary fields are filled out, click Save & Publish
to send the updated data to Amazon.
- Imported Amazon listings
Listings imported from Amazon may lack certain information due to the Amazon API limits.
When you manually trigger an update from LitCommerce using the Save & Publish
or Update to Amazon
button, Amazon will detect the missing data and return an error message.
This error does not affect the automatic sync process. If you are only using LitCommerce for syncing, simply ignore it.
However, if you are using LitCommerce to manually update listing data, be sure to complete the required fields as indicated in the error message to clear the issue.
Error caused by conflicts with existing Amazon data
You cannot change the product type of an existing ASIN
This error occurs when publishing a listing using an existing ASIN, but the provided Product Type does not match the one associated with that ASIN. This mismatch may lead to Amazon policy violations.
Note that your listing must exactly match key listing details (such as title, description, product type, and more) with the selected ASIN.
To correct this error, go to the Listing Details tab (within the listing details page) or open the Listing Details Template and update the Product Type to match the ASIN. Once updated, click Save & Publish
to resubmit the listing with the corrected data.
If you are unable to locate the appropriate Product Type, contact us for assistance.
The Listing data provided is different from what's already in the Amazon catalogue
This error occurs when publishing your listing using an existing ASIN, but the provided listing details are different from the information associated with that ASIN.
To fix this, review the error message and update your listing details to align with the selected ASIN. Once the data is accurate, simply click Save & Publish
to republish and clear the error.
Error due to Amazon API limitation
Due to Amazon API Limits, you can only publish once every 5 minutes to Amazon
The Amazon API has certain limitations during the publishing process. As noted in the error message, only one publish action is allowed every 5 minutes. However, you can publish up to 100 listings at a time in a single action.
To bulk publish, select the listings, click on Select Action
, and then Publish to Amazon
.
Listing has not been completely configured
This error appears because Amazon has not yet fully processed the listing data sent from LitCommerce when publishing products. It typically means your listing is in progress and will become Active shortly.
To clear the error, simply click Save & Publish
or Publish to Amazon
to trigger an update.
