LitCommerce as the Main Store: Fulfillment Service

Order fulfillment is a crucial part of order processing, covering everything from receiving and preparing an order to shipping and completion. This step directly impacts customers’ experience after checkout.

Fulfillment services help simplify this process and ensure orders are handled more efficiently.

This article walks you through connecting fulfillment services for order fulfillment when using LitCommerce as your Main Store.

How to connect your fulfillment service to LitCommerce?

LitCommerce currently exclusively supports ShipStation. For more details on the service and to set up a ShipStation account, refer HERE.

Follow the steps below to proceed with the fulfillment service connection process.

1

Log in to your LitCommerce account.

2

Access Fulfillment Service under the Orders section from the sidebar menu.

3

Click Add Service to choose the fulfillment service you want to connect.

4

Click Connect under your preferred fulfillment service.

5

Configure your custom store information on your fulfillment service.

Upon clicking Connect, LitCommerce will generate the following details:

  • URL to Custom XML Page: Your LitCommerce store's unique URL, used by the fulfillment service to fetch order data from LitCommerce.

  • Username: A username used for authentication with your fulfillment service.

  • Password: A password used for authentication with your fulfillment service.

Use this information to add a Custom Store in your fulfillment service and complete the connection as per the guidance on the tool’s interface.

How are orders processed between LitCommerce and your fulfillment service?

In short, LitCommerce acts as a bridge between your sales channels and fulfillment services. It automatically pulls your channel orders, forwards them to the connected fulfillment service, and syncs the resulting tracking data back to your original channel platform after fulfillment.

Enable Inventory Sync and Auto Import Order to Connected Fulfillment Service in Channel Settings to import sales channel orders into LitCommerce and send them to your fulfillment service.

Required information (marked with the red asterisk) must be available to ensure a smooth process.

Order processing in LitCommerce

Once orders are imported to LitCommerce, you can open each order in the Orders section to view its details.

It consists of the following tabs:

Order

This tab contains key order details, including channel, fulfillment status, Order ID, order date, shipping address, product details, and associated price and fee data.

Fulfillment Info

This tab displays required buyer and package information (marked by the red asterisk) that LitCommerce uses to send orders to your fulfillment service and for your fulfillment service to purchase Shipping Labels.

  • For Package Weight, LitCommerce uses the total weight of all order items with available weight data. If no item weight is available, the tool uses the default value from All Products Settings. If no default value is set, the field remains empty.

  • For Package Dimensions, LitCommerce uses the largest available value for each dimension across all order items. If a dimension has no item data, LitCommerce uses the default value from All Products Settings. If no default value is set, that dimension remains empty.

Missing required data will prevent orders from being imported to your fulfillment service. Update the required fields, then click Save and Send Order to Fulfillment Service to re-import them.

Tracking

This tab shows tracking information synced from your fulfillment service or manually added in LitCommerce. You can find the following information:

  • Carrier.

  • Shipped Date.

  • Status.

  • Items.

  • Tracking Number.

Order processing after importing to your fulfillment service

Orders successfully imported to ShipStation will display a Sent to ShipStation tag in the LitCommerce order details page.

Once you purchase the shipping label and fulfill the order in ShipStation, tracking information will automatically sync to LitCommerce and the corresponding sales channel.

Tracking information that has successfully synced to the sales channel can no longer be edited in LitCommerce.
