Proper categorization helps improve product visibility to potential buyers. In the LitCommerce Feed Management app, a Categories tab is available on each product feed for managing product categorization.

Categorization
The instructions below will guide you through the steps for categorizing your products.
Step 1: Select your categorization method
Select one of the four options below:
Smart Categories
This option automatically matches your Main Store categories to the Google category system, allowing products to be assigned under the corresponding categories. If no categories are set up in your Main Store, the category mapping will be empty.
Click on the Smart Categories
tab to start generating categories.
After that, refer to Step 2: Edit the category mapping for further actions.
Generate Categories
This method generates category mappings based on a product field of your choice (that best categorizes your items). It involves reaching the Generate Categories
tab, then selecting a Main Store field (or metafield) to set a Category field, and clicking Generate
.
The system will automatically generate category mappings (including generated conditions and values) accordingly. You will still need to set a category for each mapping.
From there, continue with Step 2: Edit the category mapping.
Add Category
You can manually create rules to assign your products to the correct categories. This requires individual category mapping setup after selecting the Add Category
tab.
Then, go to Step 2: Edit the category mapping to finalize the categorization process.
Copy Categories
In case your category mappings already exist in another feed, use this method to copy them to the current one.
Proceed by selecting Copy Categories
, then the feed you want to copy the category mappings from. From there, click on Copy
.
Next, follow Step 2: Edit the category mapping to complete the categorization.
If category mappings were already added, find the Smart Categories, Generate Categories, and Copy Categories methods under the
Select Action
button. Meanwhile, locate the Add Category
button at the bottom of the interface to add more conditions.Step 2: Edit the category mapping
After the first step is completed, you will find the following condition columns:
- If/And: Contains two conditions, to create a single rule or combine two rules, making the overall category mapping more specific.
- Field: Has a list of available Main Store fields (or metafields) for mapping.
- Condition: Contains a list of conditions you can use to set rules for the fields and values.
- Value: Available for entering texts to filter products for the selected field.
- Set to Category: Contains a fixed set of categories from the platforms for selecting. You cannot add custom categories to this list.
- Items: Displays the number of products that satisfy the conditions and are assigned under that category.
The columns will be pre-filled based on the selected categorization method. Edit them and set categories depending on your preference.
Step 3: Categorizing your products
Finally, click Save
to process the conditions and have the products assigned to categories.
For example: If Collection is equal to "Ceramic" and Product Title contains “Mug”, then set to category "Home & Garden > Kitchen & Dining > Tableware > Drinkware > Mugs". This will assign this category to all items that match this rule.
Uncategorized Items
This tab displays all products that have not been categorized. It will be updated if your products are later assigned to a category in the Categorization tab.
You can also view products on your Main Store website using this tab.
